Photo of Vernon SwansonVernon Swanson is an energetic, genuine professional, bringing innovative and strategic insight to high school seniors, looking to excel in higher education.  Growing up in Prince George’s County, Vernon was involved in recreational sports and community service events.  That experience led to him staying close to home, and attending Bowie State University, earning a bachelor of science degree in sports and business management.  While at Bowie State, and crossing into Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated, Vernon identified his passion through his fraternity’s motto, “Culture for service. Service for humanity.”

Prior to joining Montgomery College, Vernon Swanson worked in leadership roles at the University of the District of Columbia and high schools in Prince Georges County.  Beginning his career as a teacher, Vernon dedicated the previous 8 years to the academic excellence of scholars.  He served in roles as an academic advisor, senior class sponsor, coordinator of student activities, track and field coach, program coordinator, and volunteered as a college coach during the summer.  Further pushing the message promoted while teaching K-12…”No child left behind.”
