Admission Criteria to the ACES Program–What You Need to Know.

The ACES Program is a free program and seeks to serve students who are historically underrepresented in higher education that identify with one, or more of the following categories:

  • First in their family to graduate from a college or university in the United States
  • Have differing abilities
  • From a single parent household
  • From a low income household- falls below the poverty line as defined by the State of Maryland
  • Emergent Multilingual Learners (formerly know as English Language Learner)

Grade 10 students enrolled in a participating high school follow these easy steps to apply

Step 1

Complete your application by the application deadline. Start your application.

Step 2

Submit the Application Consent Form to your ACES Student Success Coordinator.

Download the Program Consent Form in the following languages: Spanish, Amharic, French, Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese.

Step 3

Keep an eye out for a program decision letter.

1 Your application will not be reviewed until a completed Program Consent Form is submitted to your academic coach. The Program Consent form is available in 7 languages, including English, Spanish, Amharic, Chinese, French, Korean, and Vietnamese.

2 All students will receive a form of correspondence. If accepted to the ACES program, participants must apply to Montgomery College (MC) to receive access to MC resources while in high school. Montgomery College resources are required to fully participate in the ACES program. All ACES students will be required to complete a Montgomery College (MC) application but are not obligated to attend MC upon graduation from high school. Instructions for completing the MC application will be provided after a student is accepted to the program.
