Sandra Amaya serves as the career readiness coordinator at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG), specializing in guiding students within the Achieving Collegiate Excellence & Success (ACES) program. In her role, Sandra is dedicated to crafting and executing career readiness initiatives that offer students invaluable experiential opportunities that enhance student career competencies and confidence.
Prior to joining USG, Sandra contributed her expertise to a non-profit and HHS, where she worked with young professionals and women survivors of Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking. Her focus was on empowering them through the development of crucial career and professional skills.
Sandra holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology and criminal justice from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her journey in career development began as a participant in the ACES program during her student years. She also actively engaged in the CEO (Career Exploration Opportunities) program, pioneering the career readiness pillar of ACES.
Drawing from her personal experience as an ACES program alumna, Sandra understands the student perspective and the profound impact the program has on their success. She credits her own professional growth to the dedicated coaches who supported her throughout her journey.
