nursingStudents from the Montgomery College nursing program became the first group to complete their clinical requirement at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital, a state-of-the-art facility and the only hospital in the nation located directly on the campus of a community college.

During their clinical rotations, the students saw cases that mirrored the weekly lecture topics in their classrooms. The exceptional high level of care that Holy Cross Hospital is known for became very vital as the students applied the lessons they learned in their classes. The students cared for a postoperative patient and taught the patient how to use a device to keep his lungs healthy.

While bedside manner and patient empathy is an important part of the nursing profession, so is expertise using state-of-the-art healthcare equipment. Students learned how to properly use a bladder scanner to assist a sick patient in her recovery.

Many full-time nurses at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital are Montgomery College alumni. This unique partnership reflects the role that Montgomery College plays in fueling the local economy with well trained and ready workers to play an important part in the local economy.
